I'm, indonesian, and I really love to travelling all around my country. i would like to share my experiences travelling start from the most western province to the most eastern province.
and here we go, our jurney start with Aceh Province, the western part of Indonesia.
see... yes we start from that part.
to go there from Jakarta there are two option of flight, direct flight took about 2h 45 mnts and conecting through Medan will spend longer time, depend on your connecting schedule.
anyway this time I choose to use connecting flight from Jakarta - Medan - Banda Aceh, it's take me about 4 hours with 2 hours waiting for my connection flight at Medan :D
Arrived in Sulatan Iskandar Muda Airport i got my first impression, this province well known as the most strict Islam rule and all their culture was made base on Islamic guideline, and i can see that they were serious to declare it with airport architecture which have some big dooms just like mosque.
i was impressed with that :)
after finish with my baggage, i walk straight to the exit door.. and whoaalaaa got another surprise.. it was so crowd with so many people offering you cab/taxi, i didn't take any picture because i don't know this neighborhood very well and not sure about the criminal rate in this place. after succeed ignoring all that taxi driver finally I found my friend who already commit to pick me in the airport.
based on my friend information, it's will be better to have someone to pick you up at the airport or if you already have a hotel you can ask them to pick you up at the airport, otherwise you will strugling with those taxi drivers and worse you have to pay double than the original rate. or if you still don't have anyone to pick you up better you made an arrangement with taxi company in Aceh to send you a taxi to pick you... that's much more safe than you have to bargaining with the taxi driver on the spot.
- Recomended taxi is Taxi Aceh you can find it at number +62821 6670 1850 honestly i never try it by myself. it's just an advice from my friend :)
there is also shuttle bus "Damri" which is provided by local government and its free, but because almost no one using this bus so you cannot make sure about the bus availability as well as the bus schedule.
quick and fast.. I'm leaving the airport and ready for my journey in Aceh......
